Carmine Appice, Pat Travers & Chuck Wright - Evil (Cactus Version)

"Evil", sometimes listed as "Evil (Is Going On)", is a Chicago blues standard written by Willie Dixon. Howlin' Wolf recorded the song for Chess Records in 1954. It was included on the 1959 compilation album Moanin' in the Moonlight. When he re-recorded it for The Howlin' Wolf Album in 1969, "Evil" became Wolf's last charting single, reaching number 43 Billboard R&B chart.

Restrictions is the third album by American hard rock band Cactus, released in 1971 on the Atco label. "Token Chokin'" was issued as a single, as were "That's Evil", "Alaska" and "Sweet 16". The album features heavy blues-rock originals, with a cover of the Howlin' Wolf blues standard "That's Evil".

Lyrics

You're a long way from home Can't sleep at night Grab your telephone Somethin' ain't right

That's evil, evil's goin' on And I'm just warnin' you brother You better watch your happy home

Long way from home Can't sleep at all Feels like a mule's kickin' in your skull

That's evil, evil's goin' on And I'm just warnin' you brother You better watch your happy home

Watch it, watch it!

Long way from home You can't sleep at all Feels like another mule's kickin' in your skull

That's evil, evil's goin' on And I'm just warnin' you brother You better watch your happy home

Watch your happy, watch your, watch your happy home

Yeah, evil, evil, evil!

Watch your happy home
