Live at Stuttgart Jazz Festival 28, 3, 1995
"As the Years Go Passing By" is a song penned by Peppermint Harris for Fenton Robinson, who first recorded it in 1959 on Duke Records, Duke #312. Flamboyant pianist James Booker also played on the session. It is credited to have been written by 'Deadric Malone' (a pseudonym of Don Robey), owner of Duke, which was a customary practice for some producers and label owners at that time. It was originally titled "As the Years Go By".
Jeff Healey cover the song in his fourth album Cover to Cover that is an album of cover songs released in 1995 and produced by Thom Panunzio and The Jeff Healey Band.
Lyrics
Well, there is nothing I can do
If you leave me here to cry
Said, there is nothing I can do
If you leave me here to cry
You know my love will follow you babe
As the years go passing by
Well, I gave you all I own babe
That is one thing you can't deny
Yes I said I gave you most than everything I own babe
Babe, that is one thing you can't deny
You know my love will follow you
As the years go passing by
I am gonna leave it up to you
Baby, so long, so long, goodbye
Said, I am gonna leave it upto you babe
Oh, long, Honey, so long, so long, goodbye
You know my love will follow you
As the years go passing by
As the years go passing by
As the years go passing by
Songwriters: Don Robey / Don D. Robey
